Hi, I'm Martin Bailey and I own Wildlife & Countryside Services, or maybe it owns me, I'm not sure sometimes!!
I am an experienced ecologist, specialising in mammals, wildlife gardens & ponds, environmental education & activities for kids.
After working as a ranger in Scotland for several years, I
moved to a hillside in North Wales in 1997, and started Wildlife
& Countryside Services in 1999.
I have been involved with the Anglesey Red Squirrel Project
since 1999, and was co-author of "Red squirrel Sciurus vulgaris L. conservation on Anglesey: A report of the first five years of the Anglesey Red Squirrel project" in 2002.
I'm regularly called on to conduct ecological
and protected species surveys, create wildlife habitats, and teach kids about the wonderful world of nature.
I live in an old gamekeeper's cottage in a wood on the North Wales coast, where I grow vegetables and rare Welsh fruit trees, keep free range chickens and ducks, and am usually to be found in the company of my 2 dogs, Meg the blue merle Welsh collie & Ruby the black mongrel, and my 2 cats Mouse & Gadget.
My spare time is spent mountain biking, walking, watching wildlife, driving old Land Rovers, and spending time with my beautiful daughter Caitlin Rose,
who is now 5!!

I was pleased to be asked to assist with the RSPB's BioBlitz event at
Conwy on 9th and 10th June, where I assisted with the small mammal trapping, alongside Rhian from the
North Wales Wildlife Trust - check out all the species recorded on the
Cofnod website or read the Conwy BioBlitz Report and see me with my little friend
the Bank Vole!!
